Tasting Cabinet

Special project for WALLPAPER*
Marquis de Montesquiou, 2013

Our aim was to reflect Marquis de Montesquiou's long tradition, knowledge and
craftsmanship by creating a tasting cabinet that serves as a mini-bar for rare armagnacs.
The mirrored cabinet assembles five small decanters. It is completed with lighting underneath
to emphasise the slight variation in the amber hues of the armagnac. The decanters are made
of clear and grey crystal by the eminent German glass manufacturer Theresienthal. Each of the
decanters is identical but for a number of polished cuts in each one. The number of cuts refers
to the vintage of the armagnac blend in the decanter – 4 cuts for 1904, 34 for the 1934 vintage
and so on. The more cuts, the younger the spirit.

Each of the decanters contains an outstanding Marquis de Montesquiou 20th century Millésime
(1904, 1934, 1955 and 1969) as well as a blend created specially for Wallpaper*
